5 Ways to Increase the Life of Your Smartphone
Your smartphone is your lifeline, and at Net Engineers we understand that. We receive calls from our customers all the time about getting a screen repair after they’ve dropped it, it slipped out of their pocket, or one of their kids got a hold of it. We understand that life happens. And because we know how much your smartphone means to you, we’ve put together 5 tips on how to keep your smartphone running longer and more efficiently.
1. Invest in a Quality Phone Case
This one might seem like a no-brainer, but not all cases are built the same. A quality, sturdy phone case is the way to go to save your smartphone. Hongkiat, a leading blog site on technology, released a list of the top “5 Smartphone Cases to Survive (Almost) Any Drop.” Here are their winners:
- Tank by Case-Mate
- Otterbox Defender
- Tough Xtreme by Case-Mate
- G-Form Extreme
- Ballistic Hard Core
2. Use a Screen Protector
We’re here if you need help fixing that broken screen, but if you take this simple step of using a tempered glass screen protector, we might see you a little less often. Having a screen protector is not absolutely necessity though, as the primary reason to have one is to prevent scratches, not breaks. Most smartphones are made with glass that is fairly scratch resistant now.
3. Turn Your Phone Off Regularly
When was the last time you turned your smartphone all the way off? Not on silent at the movies, but actually off? It’s probably been a while. You should know that if you turn down your phone for even a few minutes at least once a week it will allow your phone to run more efficiently and extend it’s life.
4. Delete Extra Apps and Photos
It’s a good idea to review your phone’s apps and photos regularly to see what you still use. Delete apps you don’t use anymore. Transfer photos to a storage system other than your phone. If you’re suffering lag times on your phone, it’s very likely it’s because you have maxed out the storage and RAM capabilities. Instead of going to buy a new phone with more space, remove the apps and photos that are eating your storage now that you don’t even use!
5. Don’t Be So Rough With Your Phone
We know that water is a no-go when it comes to our smartphones, but something you may not think about is that smartphones are a little more delicate than you might think when it comes to handling. We know you’re using a great case, but it’s not 100% effective. Be smart with your phone. Don’t toss it to your friend. Don’t let it slide around on your dashboard while driving. Keep it out of extreme cold and extreme heat. Be nice to your smartphone and it’ll stick around longer.
That smart phone in your pocket can cost upwards of $800 dollars. You may not realize it but the actual cost of your phone is rolled into your monthly plan charges. However, if you don’t have insurance and you want to replace that device – get ready to fork out two months of car payments. Treat your phone with care!
Your smartphone may be the only way your friends, your family, and your work can reach you. It’s important to take care of it so you can stay in touch with your world. Plus, how else will you be able to keep up on what’s going on in the world of Facebook?
